The Ultimate Guide to Walking to MetLife Stadium from Nearby Hotels

Updated: June 202625 min read

If you managed to secure a room at the Hilton Meadowlands, the Renaissance, or the Courtyard Lyndhurst, walking to MetLife Stadium is your ultimate tactical advantage. However, the stadium is surrounded by major multi-lane highways. Walking blindly is extremely dangerous.

The Route 120 Pedestrian Bridge

If you are staying at the Hilton Meadowlands, do not attempt to cross Route 120 at street level. There is a massive, elevated pedestrian walkway explicitly built for this purpose. It originates near the Hilton parking lot and drops you safely into the outer parking lots of the stadium complex. Follow the crowds.

The American Dream Route

If you are walking from further north or simply want to stay in the air conditioning, you can walk into the American Dream mall, traverse the entire length of the shopping center, and exit via the enclosed skybridge that connects the mall directly to the stadium perimeter.

From the South (Lyndhurst)

Walking from the Courtyard in Lyndhurst requires navigating along Polito Avenue and utilizing the local sidewalks under the Route 3 overpasses. During major events, local police heavily monitor these crosswalks, but you must remain alert, as this area is heavily industrial.

Walking Warnings

  • Summer Heat:

July in New Jersey is brutal. A 30-minute walk on black asphalt will dehydrate you before you even reach your seat. Carry water.

  • Night Vision:

While the stadium complex is brightly lit, the outer access roads back to the hotels can be dark. Use your phone flashlight when crossing intersections.
