How to Find Accessible (ADA) Hotel Rooms Near the Stadium

Updated: June 202625 min read

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), every hotel in the United States is required to offer accessible rooms and facilities. However, not all ADA implementations are created equal, and navigating the Meadowlands region in a wheelchair requires specific logistical planning.

1. Stick to the Major Corporate Brands

When booking accessible lodging, prioritize newly constructed or recently renovated corporate properties (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt). The Courtyard by Marriott Lyndhurst Meadowlands and the Hilton Meadowlands both feature excellent ADA rooms with roll-in showers, lowered peepholes, and ample clearance for motorized wheelchairs.

2. Transit Accessibility is Critical

Staying close to the stadium is irrelevant if the sidewalk infrastructure is poor. Secaucus Junction is a massive, modern, fully ADA-compliant train station with large elevators connecting to every platform. Booking a hotel in Secaucus that offers an ADA-compliant shuttle to the train station is the safest and most reliable strategy for attending the match.

3. Beware of Older Motels and NYC Walk-ups

Avoid older budget motels along Route 3, as they often only meet the bare minimum legal requirements for accessibility and may lack elevators. Similarly, if you are staying in NYC or Hoboken via Airbnb, verify explicitly that the building has an elevator; many historic brownstones do not.

Booking Advice

  • Call the Local Front Desk:

Never trust an online booking portal for accessible rooms. Call the local front desk (not the corporate 1-800 number) to explicitly confirm the reservation of a roll-in shower suite.

  • Stadium Services:

MetLife Stadium is fully accessible and offers a dedicated ADA drop-off zone at Lot C, as well as complimentary wheelchair escorts to your seat.
